1. Do I need to bring photographic ID with me to part-exchange my car?

The registered owner of the car must be present and bring some ID with them (a driver's licence or passport).

2. Can I part-exchange a car that I do not own?

Yes, as long as the registered owner is present at the handover and has photographic ID.

3. Can my part exchange act as a deposit on a finance deal?

Yes, it can. We will still require a deposit to reserve the vehicle, however we will refund this on completion of purchase.

4. Can I part-exchange my car if it has outstanding finance on it?

Yes you can. Due to the data protection laws, you will need to obtain your settlement details in writing from your finance provider and send us a copy before we can proceed with your part exchange. We will include any outstanding finance in the new deal.

5. What if I have a private plate?

If you wish to keep your plate, you will need to arrange retention.

6. What do I need to bring along?

You'll need to bring all of the vehicle's paperwork, including the registration document (also known as the V5 or logbook), the service book, the manual and the MoT certificate. Please also bring along the spare set of keys, sat-nav disc, locking wheel nut key and any other car accessories. CarShop cannot accept a car without the V5 so if this has been misplaced you will have to apply for a new one from the DVLA. For part-exchange cars with outstanding finance, your will be required to bring your settlement details in writing from your finance provider.

7. What happens to my Road Fund Licence?

We include any remaining Road Fund License in the valuation given for your part exchange.

8. If I opt for home delivery can you collect my part exchange car?

Yes - as long as your part exchange vehicle is in a roadworthy condition with a current MOT and Road Fund License.

9. Is the part-exchange valuation free?

Yes. There's no charge for this service just pop down to your nearest CarShop with the car you require to be valued.

Yes we will - in store only. For home delivery the vehicle must be roadworthy.

We will accept vehicles with any mileage.

No - you can just sell us your car if you like!

16. If I make use of CarShop's 7 day money back guarantee, can I have my old car back?

We're afraid not. As soon as we accept a car in part exchange it is sent for resale. We will endeavour to return your vehicle but in most circumstances we will pay you back to the value of your part exchange.

17. I want to buy a different CarShop car. Is my part exchange valuation still applicable?

If more than 7 days have elapsed since your part exchange valuation then you will need to start the process again and request a new valuation.
